RE:HOUSING

Housing is the primary and basic urban facility, which makes up over 70% of cities. However, housing is not just a structure, it is also a spatial experience: an experience that is both, personal and collective culturally rooted in archetypes. Although the typology of residential buildings – in structure, program, and experimentation – has shown the highest degree of resistance, it has been slowly but unavoidably changing in accordance with new social phenomena and spatio-temporal relations. Modern lifestyles – the trend of frequent migrations and the use of modern technologies – change the perception of the home as a place of habitation, personal identification, and as a place of common emotional experience. Traditional ways of housing and living space typology are required for critical re-thinking in relation to dynamic urban life and smart technologies development, but also in relation to contemporary trends of sustainable design.

While, on the one hand, the residential architecture experiments with the transposition of new social patterns towards spatial patterns – looking for new forms and their meaning – on the other hand, it is fighting the essential dehumanization. Urbanization as an extreme process causes imbalanced territorial growth and the rise of real estate prices, which cause the inability to achieve the right to an adequate living space and a rich living environment.

Due to the hyperproduction and the lack of standardization of residential buildings, living space is codified, produced and undersized. At the same time, an informal “urban fabric” is born on the edge of tradition and existence. In this context, an urgent and alternative paradigm is necessary. Sustainable models and mechanisms are needed to intelligently – rationally, human and contextually – respond to the essential need and the right to own living space.

Re: housing discusses new models of housing – non-standard and unusual spatial forms of usage patterns and identification in relation to contemporary life trends and predicting urban and social development; it considers multifunctionality, developmental transformation and adaptability of residential [physical] spaces. At the same time, it re-examines the significance and essence of housing as a [emotional, social] process; it redefines the physical, imaginary, economic, cultural, technological and socially-responsible borders of housing; it expands borders and patterns  of usage, of interpretation and of the dwelling as a process in the broader sense.

O STANOVANJU

Savremeni stil života – trend čestih migracija i  upotrebe savremenih tehnologija – mijenjaju percepciju doma kao mjesta obitavanja, lične identifikacije, i mjesta zajedničkog emocionalnog iskustva.

Re:housing razmatra nove modele stanovanja –  nestandardne prostorne obrasce korišćenja i identifikacije – u odnosu na savremene trendove života i predviđanja urbanog i društvenog razvoja; promišlja multifunkcionalnost, razvojnu transformabilnost i prilagodljivost stambenih [fizičkih] prostora, dok istovremeno, preispituje značaj i suštinu stanovanja kao [emocionalnog, društvenog] procesa; redefiniše fizičke i imaginarne, ekonomske i kulturološke, tehnološke i društveno-odgovorne granice stanovanja; pomijera granice u načinu korišćenja, interpretacije i stvaranja stambenog prostora u širem smislu.
